“Free Hong Kong Fonts” is a collaborative project between H.K.S.K.H. Lady MacLehose Centre Dr. Lam Chik Suen District Elderly Community Centre and HKCOTA. The first set of Chinese font, “Free Hong Kong Kai”, was created to match the research from EDB and the education community, “List of Graphemes of Commonly-used Chinese Characters (2007)”. OSHK was responsible to build and host the official web site. We were very grateful to be chosen as the recipient for the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2017 – Best Lifestyle (Learning & Living) Award and the Special Mention (Silver Power).
The Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, in collaboration with the local information and communications technology (ICT) industry, staged the International IT Fest 2016. HKCOTA was honoured to held one of the events within the IT Fest – Workshop in Making Free Hong Kong Fonts – together with H.K.S.K.H. Lady MacLehose Centre.

The Greater China 3D Printing Seminar is organized by HKCOTA at Room ST111, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University on 19 April 2015.
In this seminar, experts from the Greater China region share their practical experience and applications on 3D printing.
HKCOTA had invited 9 speakers from Singapore, Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong.
Thanks for the speakers from the overseas came to Hong Kong to give us a great talk about 3D printing in their own region.

Open Source Technology Day 2015 @ ITFest

Free and open source software lowers software cost and spurs software innovation and development. In this seminar, veteran ICT practitioners will share their experience in using and innovating with open source software.
The event is organised by HKLUG and OSHK and held at Esther Lee Building, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shatin.

The “Love Hong Kong – 3D Printing World Record Attempts” was held on 20th December, 2014 by the HKSYC&IA Chan Nam Chong Memorial College and HKCOTA.
200 hundred students from different primary and secondary schools came together to attempt the world record – 200 students assembled 200 Tinyboy 3D printers at the same time.

Hong Kong Opensource Conference 2014, Hong Kong Science Park, 29 Mar 2014
The first Hong Kong Open Source Conference was held on 19 October 2013 in the City University of Hong Kong, Run Run Shaw Creative Media Centre. The theme was “Open Web, Open Hardware and Open Data”. 145 attendants came. 24 individual sessions were held from 22 local and 5 overseas speakers. In 2014, we was invited to held our event with co-ordination with the World Internet Developer Summit (WiDS). Together we provided a 3-day programme with Hong Kong Open Source Conference hosting 23 individual sessions were held from 13 local and 18 overseas speakers on 29 March. We tripled the number of foreign speakers and increased the number of attendants by an one and a half. With the anticipation of this increase, we hosted this event in Hong Kong Science and Technology Park. Eventually 228 people came.
